The vestry is excited to announce a dinner for those who are new to St. James Episcopal Church on October 9th at 5:30 pm.
We are blessed to have several new people in the St. James community. We would love for you to join us for this dinner so that we may know each other better. The leaders, along with the members of the church and the rector, will provide the food for the gathering. Please click on the link if you would like to join us as our honored guest or welcoming member of St. James so that we have an accurate count of people attending the dinner. It will be held at Mike's house right across from the church. (If you have already responded to the email, you do not need to respond here.)
Spiritual Habits - 18
The Human Tribe
"As the tribe of the human beings, we began our existence in the womb of the earth, beneath the surface, in a place of darkness. Through many different incarnations of life on this planet, we finally emerged into the light." Bishop Charleston.
Like it or not, we are a tribe. The world is shrinking into a tribe of people, smaller, and easier to connect with every day. Even though the pandemic has put a stop to the normalcy we are used to, the world has a new normal now. We went through the darkness, as Bishop says, but we are in the light on the other side. At least we need to strive for being the light after the dark days of 2020. Find new ways to be a community and become the new tribe of God in a changing world.
Our world family is closer than we were a year ago. We can not sit back and be depressed for the gone days, but emerge into the new ones. That is what life is all about and what happens to a child who is born out of the most comfortable place on earth: the womb. The older and the younger can now connect better with each other. Even though some older and wiser folks were hesitant about connecting through technology before, it's not the case anymore. Some young and energetic ones who thought the older people can not learn anything new realized that they are wrong. We all can grow into a new generation with a new understanding.
I invite you to be born again into the light. Leave the darkness of fear, anxiety, sadness, nostalgia, or whatever else is keeping you in that place. Come and be born into the new world that is emerging with or without you!
Invitation to Fellowship!
Please note these events and services.
  1. Early service at 8:30 am. Starting September 12th we will move our early service time to 8:30 to make room for Sundays schools between services.
  2. We will begin Sunday Schools for all ages on September 12th. Sunday schools for adults and children will be at 9:30 am. Adults class will be held in the Parish Hall. I hope you can join these classes.
  3. Sunday School for Children and Youth! Since our children and youth are back in school, I am sure parents are comfortable sending their children to Sunday school and youth events in church as well. So, please wear a mask when you come. I encourage all parents to encourage their children to attend regular Spiritual Formation classes and I wish you, please, do so yourself by being there.

Youth and Children
In Mark 8:27-38, Jesus asked Peter, "Who do you say I am?" If Jesus asked you that question what would you say? Getting to know someone takes time and can be a life long endeavor, make this question not an easy one. This week in EKC and EYC we will talk about the man Jesus, the God Jesus, and the friend Jesus. Let's get to know him together!
Important Announcement!
EKC (K-5th) and EYC ( 6th-12th) is back this Sunday.

We will need all hands on deck for this one! Let's make memories together with our neighbors!
Needed Prayer Warriors
The prayer chain is in need of two group leaders. It involves:
 1. Receiving an email with prayer requests and forwarding it to four people.
 2. Then texting those four people telling them that a prayer request email has been sent.
 3. Then pray the email request.
Thank you for prayerfully considering this ministry. There are no meetings, and you do not have to leave home.
Blessings,
Marge Francis
