Spiritual Habits - 24
"It is in giving, that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned."
Peace Prayer of St. Francis
This coming Sunday is our Consecration Sunday. What that means is we celebrate committing ourselves to be fully involved, committed, and supportive of our community of St. James in the coming months and years.
As you know all relationships should be reciprocal, whether it is a relationship with God or fellow human beings. If we are not in a reciprocal relationship, it will die. If we don't give and take, if we do not engage in mutual affection, care, and support of the other whom or which we value, it will die. The responsibility of the death of a relationship is mutual. It is a commitment that we depend on.
So today I invite you to be fully involved in the ministries and life of your church. Be part of people's lives. Investing in each other is important, as, without it, nothing and no one will survive, whether that is the earth we take from or friends we care for.

St. James will be hosting a Halloween Trunk or Treat this year on October 31st. 6-9pm. Hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be served and children will be able to trick or treat the trunks. A costume contest (by grade k-5, 6-12th and adults) will be held at 6:30 pm followed by the announcement of the winner of the "Best Trunk Award". For more information contacting Kimby Tharakan by text 479-747-3757 or email stjamesspringfield@gmail.com. We will need all hands on deck for this one! Let's make memories together with our neighbors!
Outreach News
We are kicking off the "Season of Giving" by "Stepping Out In Love" to provide shoes to students in need at Field Elementary School. There are 35 students who qualify for help in getting warm, practical shoes for school.
Covid might have changed many things over the past couple of years but it hasn't changed the love and care that St. James members are willing to show to the needy in our community. 'Stepping Out in Love" is an ongoing effort for us, in partnership with Shoe Carnival, to provide tennis shoes and socks for kids at Fields. Our shopping day will be Sunday, November 7.
Each pair of shoes costs approximately $35 - $50 and each package of socks costs $10. Please mark your Outreach donation "SHOES". This has always been one of our most successful Outreach events...let the tradition continue! Thank You!
A Message from the Stewardship Ministry Leaders
Our sincere appreciation goes to everyone who attended the Stewardship Dinners on October 22, 23 and 24, 2021. Dinner was delicious and the members enjoyed a lovely climate of friendship and camaraderie.
Our gratitude is extended to our eloquent speakers: Erik Atkinson, Chris Thornton, and Chris Dodson for their encouragement words during several services.
Additionally, our thankfulness goes to the group of volunteers who worked tireless serving food, cleaning after dinner and moving tables and chairs as needed: Nancy Terry, Chris Thornton, Minuen Odom, Owen Tackett, Gabriel Tackett, Janis Micklea, Benny Amigon, B.J. Amigon, Erik Atkinson, Mike Bishop-Jones, Bob Lanning, Steven Haberman and Robert Jackson.
Furthermore, Elaine Atkinson prepared the beautiful flower arrangements used as centerpieces on the dinner tables and assisted decorating the Parish Hall. Thank you, Elaine!
And last, but not least, a few people who were not visible, but we are indebtedness with them for their support: Vicki Hamilton who made the use of the building easier for us after working hours and Ann Wright who was our Business Advisor.

Youth and Children
EKC and EYC: Let's talk about Ruth and Naomi. Their story starts with tragedy and a promise, but one thing is for sure. They stuck together. Friendship and loyalty is our topic this week. Don't miss it!
EKC will meet at 9:30 am.
EYC will not meet after church in the youth room.
We would love to hear from you! Share pictures, video, thoughts or questions with on our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/StJamesSpringfield
